Water Bore Drilling in Geurie
A karst is listed at Geurie. The NSW fractured-rock water sharing plan says a household bore approval must not be granted if, in the Minister's opinion, the bore is within 100 m of a listed high priority karst. Check the distance from the karst before anything else.

Water Bore Drilling around Geurie
The January 2012 background document to the fractured-rock plan lists a Geurie karst among the karst groundwater-dependent ecosystems, in the Lachlan Fold Belt. Its table row reads "Geurie Karst Lachlan Fold Belt MDB Geurie". The plan itself, in the copy consolidated to 21 December 2022, says an approval for a work used solely for basic landholder rights must not be granted or amended if, in the Minister's opinion, the work is within 100 metres of a high priority karst environment groundwater-dependent ecosystem in its list. The background document adds that the distance rules cover new or replacement works such as bores.
The table gives the karst's location only as "Geurie", and no map was read, so this page says a karst is listed at Geurie, not that any address is near it. Geurie also takes town water from the Upper Macquarie alluvium, according to the Department's water resource plan, so more than one groundwater source may be in play around Geurie, and which applies is for the Department to say. This page does not set out the rest of the plan's clauses.

Permits and Dubbo Regional Council rules
Whether a bore at a given address is approved is for the NSW Department to decide: it says you need a water supply work approval to construct a groundwater bore, including a household one. No Dubbo Regional Council rule on bores was read for this page.
